Yacko claimed that the hook is so infectious you won’t be able to help yourself getting up from your seat and singing at the top of your lungs!

UNITE FOR JAPAN 17th APRIL 2011

Bencana alam yang menimpa Jepang pada 11 Maret 2011 lalu telah menggugah banyak pihak untuk memberikan bantuan bagi Negeri Matahari Terbit ini, tak terkecuali Pulau Biru Productions, Komunitas Alumni Jepang di Indonesia (KAJI), Konser Koin, dan Hard Rock Caf Jakarta yang bersatu dalam mengadakan sebuah konser penggalangan dana untuk Jepang bertajuk Unite for Japan: Strength in Solidarity.

Konser ini akan diadakan pada hari Minggu (17/4) mendatang dari pukul 13.00 – 01.00 WIB dan akan dimeriahkan oleh sekitar 30 band yang namanya sudah tidak asing lagi di industri musik Indonesia, di antaranya Slank, Gigi, The Flowers, J-Rocks, Alexa, Yacko dan masih banyak lagi.

Untuk ide acara ini, Ezra Simanjuntak selaku panitia dan gitaris salah satu band yang akan tampil, Zi Factor, mengatakan bahwa acara ini dicanangkan oleh gitaris Cozy Republic, Penyot, melalui grup BlackBerry Potlot tidak lama setelah Potlot Reunion 2011 diadakan di Score!, Cilandak Town Square pada 4 Maret silam.

“Kebetulan istri Penyot itu orang Jepang dan orang tua gua dulu pernah ngajar di Universitas Tokyo dan Kyoto. Dari situ kami ketemu Bimbim dan Bunda Iffet, semua langsung oke. Dua minggu yang lalu kami mulai rapat-rapat dan minggu lalu baru konfirmasi. Dadakan sih memang, “ jelas Ezra ketika diwawancara oleh Rolling Stone via telepon.

Untuk pemilihan band, Ezra mengakui bahwa dia bersama panitia lain harus membatasi jumlah band yang tampil.

“Untuk band ada yang memang kami undang karena kami tahu orangnya asik-asik dan ada juga yang menghubungi kami untuk ikut serta, tapi kami harus membatasi karena banyak banget yang daftar. Kami pengen semua genre ada, dari pop, hip hop, sampai metal. Selain itu, semua band yang tampil di acara ini tampil tanpa dibayar,” imbuh Ezra.

Selain band yang tampil, Hard Rock Caf Jakarta sebagai venue acara juga tidak memungut bayaran, namun Ezra menginformasikan bahwa dengan tiket Rp 75,000, Rp 50,000-nya disumbangkan untuk Jepang dan sisanya akan diberikan oleh panitia kepada Hard Rock Caf Jakarta.

I just got this video this morning and it has officially made me cry. I remember how I used to teach them and few times were angry at them coz they were very noisy. Apart of that, teaching their class is one of my memorable classes and one of the most fun! To be able to see them improving as well as sharing all the laughs and knowledge were two of the things that I will not easily forget.

Thank you for the love Kath, Peter, Dick, Derin, Batra and Theo. You guyz take care and make me proud yah :)
